Since I’m a big fan of seasonal fruits and vegetables, I took the opportunity to prepare a Chocolate Pear Cake with the beginning of pears’ season. It’s a combination loved by Italians and served during this season in restaurants and pastry shops.
- DifficultyVery easy
- CostCheap
- Preparation time30 Minutes
- Cooking time40 Minutes
- Cooking methodOven
Ingredients
- 2.25 cupsflour
- 3 spoonscocoa powder (Abundant spoons for extra taste)
- 3eggs
- 1 cupsugar
- 1/2 cupOil
- 1/2 cupmilk
- 2 teaspoonsbaking powder
- 1 pinchvanilla
- 1 pinchsalt
- 2pears (Or 3 small)
- q.s.chocolate chips (A handful for decoration)
Preparation of the Chocolate Pear Cake
First of all, preheat your oven at 180Β°C.
To start the preparation of the Chocolate Pear Cake, start by sifting the flour and the cocoa powder in a large bowl. Then, throw in the baking powder and the pinches of vanilla and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs together with the sugar. Afterwards, add the oil and the milk and mix them well together.
Next, pour the liquid mixture onto the dry ingredients and whisk them together until incoprorated.
P.S.: I would advise you to use a hand mixer because the cake composition is thick. It would take you a lot of effort to mix it by hand with a whisk.
Once the cake mixture is ready, peel the pears and cut them vertically in order to obtain long pear-shaped slices.
Finally, transfer the mixture to a buttered and floured cake mold. Display the pear slices inside the cake as shown in the picture or as per your preferences.
To further decorate the cake, sprinkle on top of it some chocolate chips and bake at 180Β°C for 40 minutes or until a toothpick or a knife comes out clean.
I hope you enjoyed the Chocolate Pear Cake recipe.
